Moomin
Moomins are a family of friendly, round, white trolls with large snouts resembling hippopotamuses, who live in a whimsical, adventurous home called Moominvalley.
The Moomin family and their friends live an adventurous life in the idyllic and peaceful Moominvalley in harmony with nature. The largest building in the valley is the Moominhouse, and its occupants welcome all visitors from the valley and further afield.
The Moomins love the sea and sometimes, they set out on journeys of exploration that take them far from Moominvalley, but they know they always have a safe home to return to. As autumn approaches, the Moomins prepare to hibernate. By the time Moominvalley is carpeted in snow, the Moomins are already in a deep sleep.
Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was a Swedish-speaking Finnish writer and artist, who achieved worldwide fame as the creator of the stories about the Moomins, written and illustrated between 1945 and 1977. Moomin stories were originally written in Swedish although Tove Jansson lived in Helsinki, Finland.
Moomin and the Golden Leaf
Tonight everyone in Moominvalley will be going to the Autumn Ball and Moomintroll and Sniff are busy helping with preparations. But when they discover an extraordinary golden leaf on the forest floor, will they be able to find a tree full of golden leaves and give each of the valley folk a gift they'll always treasure?
Moomin and the Wishing Star
When Moomintroll finds a beautiful shiny pebble, Snorkmaiden thinks it might be a star - and if it is a star, then Moomin can make a wish! But wishes are difficult things to get right, and while Moomin worries about what his wish will be, the star's shine begins to fade.
Moomin and the Ice Festival
The Moomin family is almost ready for their Long Winter Sleep. As the soft flakes of snow start to fall, an invitation to the Ice Festival arrives. Snorkmaiden and Little My sneak out to see it, and Moominpappa and Mooomin go too, thinking they need to rescue them. They discover that winter is not to be feared, and they have a great time at the festival, with music and skating. Next year they will take Moominmama. Now it's time for their winter sleep.
